Harassment prevention training for California small businesses

Online training for supervisors and employees, with the tracking and records to show it was done. Made for companies without an HR department, and built for the anti-hate-speech requirement that starts January 1, 2028.

In development. Respect Hour is opening to a small group of California employers first. The course content is still being written; California's regulations require it to be created by a qualified trainer, and it will be before anyone is trained on it.

What California asks of employers

  • Who

Every employer with five or more employees has to train all of them.

  • How much, how often

Two hours for supervisors and one hour for everyone else, every two years.

  • New in 2028

From January 1, 2028, the training must also cover hate speech at work (AB 1803).

What Respect Hour will do

  • Both courses, in one place

A two-hour course for supervisors and a one-hour course for everyone else. People take it on a phone or a computer, stop when they need to, and pick up where they left off.

  • The time requirement, actually met

California sets a minimum time for this training. The course keeps count as people work through it, so a certificate means the time was really spent.

  • A roster that runs itself

Add people one at a time or upload a spreadsheet. Invitations go out by email, and reminders follow on their own until each person is done.

  • Records when someone asks

See who has finished and who is overdue. Download each person's certificate, or your full training record, whenever you need it.
